Predator avoidance study in zebrafish

I was lucky to have successfully applied for a travel grant from the University of Greenwich, which allowed me to spend 3 weeks in the lab of Fredrik Jutfelt at NTNU in Trondheim. Fredrik and I have tried for years to work together on this project and even received a grant to do so, which I couldn't take up at the time. Fredrik is very interested in the evolution and ecology of predator avoidance in zebrafish and I am keen to dive more into the chemical ecology and odour detection in fish. Together we are now working on the question how zebrafish use predator smell to avoid them.

Fredrik has fantastic and brand new zebrafish facilities.

The three weeks I spend in Norway went over too quickly and I am already looking forward to going back and to continuing the work.
