Fredrik Jutfelt at NTNU, Norway invited Adrian and me to join his temperature acclimation experiment. An offer we could not refuse.
In December we therefore travelled into the snowy landscape of Trondheim and spend several days sampling zebrafish that had been acclimated to a wide range of temperatures. Fredrik and his team did a fantastic job running the experiment and Adrian was most excellent in finding all the minute organs and dealing with the lack of daylight. We will be analysing the samples for changes in gene expression to elucidate how fish acclimate to temperatures and if they have to potential to regulate their physiology accordingly.
